Bible Basics
The Bible in 200 essential stories. That is what we promise with Bijbel Basics , the children's Sunday school method from the NBG.
Both the Bible and the child are central
Bijbel Basics started in 2018 as a method for Sunday school. With Bijbel Basics , both the Bible and the child are central. The method uses all types of Bible books, even if they are somewhat less familiar or more difficult for children, such as Proverbs and Revelation.
In total, there are 217 episodes that introduce children aged 4-12 to essential Bible stories and other texts.

With Bible Basics , we are taking a much more personal approach than before!
Gretel ter Weel – Sunday School Leader PKN Apeldoorn

Sunday school that suits every child
In the lower grades, the stories are retold by well-known authors such as Corien Oranje. In the upper grades, the children read the stories themselves from the Bible in Plain Language. In this way, they acquire a broad basic knowledge of the Bible.
Each story is accompanied by varied processing methods and discussion questions. Thanks to insights from child theology, pedagogy, and didactics, Bijbel Basics aligns closely with children's world of experience and diverse learning preferences .
All the material can be found online.
All episodes can be downloaded at bijbelbasics.nl . Those who sign up receive a starter guide and a weekly episode via email.

Advent and Christmas 2023: A new beginning
All stories this year come from the Gospel according to Luke. From the Annunciation of the birth by John to the birth of Jesus. With every story, the children discover: God makes a new beginning!

Bible Basics in practice
Gretel Ter Weel teaches Sunday school at a district congregation of the Protestant Church in Apeldoorn. 'It is a challenge to engage changing groups—many boys with little concentration—in a Bible story.' But since Gretel switched to the Bible Basics material , wonderful things have happened with the children. Gretel: 'The challenge is that it’s not just about the experiment, but about succeeding in conveying the story.'
