Project of the month October: Give Bibles to refugees in Colombia

Every day, men, women, and children cross the border between Venezuela and Colombia—often with nothing more than a suitcase or a plastic bag. They are fleeing poverty, food shortages, political oppression, and violence. Many are exhausted, afraid, and have left behind everything that once shaped their lives. The NBG supports local churches in Colombia so that they can help refugees with practical care and Bibles full of hope.

The need is great – refugees seek safety and hope

Pastor Eleodor describes how his church sometimes fills with people who were living in their own homes just a few days earlier, but who now have to sleep in the open air. Their gaze is uncertain: Is there hope for us here?

Their story symbolizes tens of thousands of others who cross the border every month. Exhausted, sometimes traumatized, but with a glimmer of hope that they can find a safe place in Colombia.

Are you giving these people hope for the future?

How we help: shelter, comfort, and hope

In the midst of this crisis, local churches offer a safe haven for people in need. Refugees receive meals, a place to rest, and pastoral guidance there.

The Colombian Bible Society supports the churches in this. We provide training so that they can help people cope with fear, loss, and the stress of displacement.

Bibles and booklets explaining the gospel are also being distributed. These offer comfort and direction in a time of uncertainty.

Together we reach 60.000 refugees per year

With this project, the Colombian Bible Society supports 60.000 refugees annually.

Thanks to the training, churches can guide people both practically and spiritually. The materials are deliberately small and compact so that refugees can take them with them, even if they have to sleep on the street, in parks, or in shelters.

Help refugees in Colombia – give hope and support

The refugee crisis is not easy to solve. But together, we bring hope, strength, and direction to the places where it is needed most.

With your support, we can offer refugees who have lost everything a new beginning.

Our dream: the Bible for everyone

What a privilege that we can open the Bible at any time. Do you also think it is important that people can read God's Word in their own language , especially where that is not a given? With your support, you make that possible and change lives in Colombia!
